BECAUSE OF GOD’S HOLINESS AND JUSTICE, HE WILL HOLD US ACCOUNTABLE AND WILL NOT LET SIN GO UNPUNISHED.
But the LORD Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy by his righteousness. (Isaiah 5:16)
God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day. (Psalms 7:11)
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2)
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:13)
Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment… (Hebrews 9:27)
THE ULTIMATE PUNISHMENT FOR REBELLION AGAINST GOD IS DEATH AND ETERNAL WRATH IN HELL (aka THE LAKE OF FIRE).
For the wages of sin is death… (Romans 6:23)
He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.
(2 Thessalonians 1:8-9)
The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:41-42)
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit thekingdomofGod. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
…the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulphur. This is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)
Whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. (John 3:36)
If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)
IN HIS GREAT LOVE, GOD CHOSE TO GIVE HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST, TO DIE IN THE PLACE OF SINNERS.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
…the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father… (Galatians 1:3-4)
You see, at just the right time, when we were still helpless, Christ died for the ungodly. (Romans 5:6)
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. (1 Peter 3:18)
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. (1 John 3:16)
JESUS ROSE FROM THE DEAD, PROVING HE IS LORD OF ALL AND ABLE TO SAVE .
For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead. (Acts 17:31)
For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. (Rom 14:9)
. . . to wait for [God’s] Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead–Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath. (1 Thessalonians 1:10)
Jesus said: I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. (Revelation 1:18)
JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAVE US FROM HELL AND GIVE US ETERNAL LIFE.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
Salvation is found in no-one else (but Jesus Christ), for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
And we are in him who is true–even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. (1 John 5:20)
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26)
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you… (1 Peter 1:3-4)
NO ONE ENTERS HEAVEN ON THE BASIS OF THEIR GOOD DEEDS OR LIVING A GOOD LIFE. A PERSON CAN ONLY BE SAVED BY GOD’S GRACE ALONE, THROUGH FAITH ALONE, IN CHRIST ALONE.
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. (Rom 3:22)
…and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Rom 3:24)
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. (Titus 3:5)
Therefore no-one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. (Romans 3:20)
Know that a man is not made right with God by keeping rules, but by faith in Jesus Christ. (Gal 2:16)
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no-one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
TO BE SAVED, A PERSON MUST PLACE THEIR FAITH (TRUST) IN CHRIST ALONE FOR SALVATION AND THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
Know that a man is not made right with God by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. (Gal. 2:16)
For we maintain that a man is made right with God by faith apart from works of the Law. (Romans 3:28)
. . . not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith… (Philippians 3:9)
PLACING YOUR FAITH IN CHRIST INVOLVES . . .
1. TURNING TO GOD IN REPENTANCE
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. (Acts 2:38)
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord . . . (Acts3:19)
We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them. (Acts 14:15)
I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. (Acts 20:21)
I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds. (Acts 26:20)
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
2. CONFESSING JESUS IS LORD AND BELIEVING THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD.
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
3. BELIEVING IN JESUS AND RECEIVING HIM AS SAVIOR
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12)
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” (John 3:36)
And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:11-13)
